No, event registration is free. Participants are encouraged to ask their friends, families and community to support their walking, running or riding efforts in order to raise funds that will help Shine Foundation grant life-changing Dreams for young people living with severe physical disabilities.

Complete your registration (it only takes five minutes!), log into the Participant Centre and link your Google Fitness, Strava or FitBit account. From September 15-21, get moving and be sure to track your activity. Once your fitness accounts are linked, your activity during Stride & Ride will automatically count towards our overall goal and will be displayed as part of our activity thermometer on the homepage. 

All individual donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. If you made your gift directly on the event website, you will receive your tax receipt by email after you make your donation. If you made a donation by cheque to a participant, a team or the event, Shine will issue your tax receipt within 30 days following the event.

All gifts of $20 or more made on behalf of companies or organizations are eligible for a business receipt when requested. Business receipts will be issued by email within 30 days following the event.

Each one of these is also associated with an app that can be downloaded in the Apple or Google App Store on your smartphone. Please choose whichever activity account best fits your needs. There is no specific app from the list above that is preferred for this event – they all work to count your distance. 

Once you’ve completed your registration for Stride & Ride, you can log into your Participant Centre, by following the steps below:

• Click the lock button on the top section of the page
• Enter your email and password in the window and click “Login”
• Your participant centre will appear

Your Participant Centre has everything you need to set you up for a successful event. Options include:

• Set or reset your goal
• Add a personal message and photo to your page
• Edit your team page (if you are a team captain)
• View pre-written templates, customize and send to your network*
• Track your fundraising progress
• Send thank you notes
• See your donor list
• Add offline donors
• Answer registration questions

*In the Participant Centre, you'll be able to find email templates and social media posts to invite friends and family members to support your efforts. You can upload your contacts, which allows you to quickly and easily email your network to join you in supporting Shine Foundation.

There is no minimum fundraising amount, but we encourage you to reach for the stars and help make a difference in the lives of young people facing unimaginable challenges.

Share your Stride & Ride adventures on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X using the hashtag #ShinewithExperior. The more photos you share, the better!

Individuals will set a fundraising goal and participate in the challenge independently. Teams work together towards a collective fundraising and activity goal. Participating as a team is a great way to build community while working together!

Absolutely! Everyone is welcome to join us as we collectively walk across Canada to raise critical funds that will help provide life-changing opportunities for young people living with severe physical disabilities.

There is no limit for the number of people who can join a team.
